History

Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 162 (the “District”) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas. The District was created by a special act of the 86th Texas Legislature, effective June 14, 2019, codified as Chapter 8090, Texas Special District Local Laws Code.   The District operates under Chapters 49 and 54 of the Texas Water Code, Article XVI, Section 59, and Article III, Section 52 of the Texas Constitution. The District lies within Montgomery County and the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Conroe. The District currently consists of 207.7 acres and is located to the northwest of the intersection of FM 1314 and Texas State Highway 242. The District is approximately 9 miles from the central downtown business district of the City of Conroe.

The District is part of a master district system, where Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 163 (the “Master District”) constructs, finances, operates, and maintains regional water, sewer, and drainage facilities for a service area of approximately 1,824 acres (“Service Area”). The Service Area is comprised of land within the District, the Master District, Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 191, Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 192, and Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 194 (“Internal Districts”). The Service Area is comprised of two sub-service areas: the East Service Area and the West Service Area. The District is located the West Service Area, which serves the Evergreen community. The District is currently the only Internal District actively developing in the West Service Area.
